Summary
Mahendra was a supervisor in a firm. His job was to supervise different construction sites. The nature of his job was such that he had to move from one place to another. Mahendra’s needs were simple. He had a servant named Iswaran who followed Mahendra without any complaint, cooked for him, and washed his clothes too. Iswaran read Tamil thriller stories and it affected him so much that even a very small incident like a tree that had fallen, appeared to him like a frightening beast. Iswaran described each thing with robust details. He weaved a new story full of thrill and horror to Mahendra every night. He played the role of a TV in Mahendra’s quarter. One day, he weaved a story about a female ghost, holding a foetus in her hand. Mahendra stopped him from telling such horrible stories and told him that there are no such things as ghost and that they are only our imagination. After a few days, Mahendra heard some noises near his windowsill during the night. At first, he put it down to the cries of a cat but the noise became louder and louder. When he peeped through the window, he fainted, for he saw a cloudy figure clutching a bundle, near his windowsill. Mahendra could not sleep that night. In the morning, Iswaran asked him about the sounds and the female ghost. He also complained about how he had chided him earlier. Mahendra was so upset that he resolved to leave the haunted place the very next day.

महेंद्र एक फर्म में सुपरवाइजर था। उनका काम विभिन्न निर्माण स्थलों की निगरानी करना था । उनकी नौकरी का स्वभाव ऐसा था कि उन्हें एक जगह से दूसरी जगह जाना पड़ता था। महेंद्र की जरूरतें सरल थीं। उसके पास इश्वरन नाम का नौकर था जो बिना किसी शिकायत के महेंद्र का पीछा करता था, उसके लिए पकाया जाता था और उसके कपड़े भी धोते थे। इश्वरन ने तमिल थ्रिलर कहानियां पढ़ीं और इससे वह इतना प्रभावित हुए कि पेड़ की तरह एक बहुत छोटी सी घटना भी उसे एक भयावह जानवर की तरह दिखाई दी । इस्वारन ने हर बात को दमदार डिटेल्स के साथ बताया । उन्होंने हर रात महेंद्र को रोमांच और खौफ से भरी एक नई कहानी बुन दी। उन्होंने महेंद्र के क्वार्टर में टीवी का किरदार निभाया था। एक दिन उसने एक महिला भूत के बारे में एक कहानी बुन ली, उसके हाथ में भ्रूण थामे हुए । महेंद्र ने उसे ऐसी भयानक कहानियां सुनाने से रोक दिया और बताया कि भूत जैसी कोई चीज नहीं है और वे सिर्फ हमारी कल्पना हैं। कुछ दिनों के बाद महेंद्र ने रात के समय अपनी खिड़कियों के पास कुछ शोर सुना। पहले तो उसने इसे एक बिल्ली की चीख-पुकार के नीचे रख दिया लेकिन शोर जोर से और जोर से हो गया । जब वह खिड़की के माध्यम से झांका, वह बेहोश हो गया, क्योंकि वह एक बादल आंकड़ा एक बंडल पकड़कर देखा, उसकी खिड़की के पास । उस रात महेंद्र सो नहीं सका। सुबह इसवारन ने उनसे आवाजों और मादा भूत के बारे में पूछा। उसने इस बात की भी शिकायत की कि कैसे उसने उसे पहले चिड़काया था । महेंद्र इतना परेशान था कि उसने अगले ही दिन प्रेतवाधित जगह छोड़ने का संकल्प लिया।
