ANSWERS :

1 . He had been doing his homework when he noticed the smoke

2 . After the fire broke out in the author’s house , he and his mother ran out into the front yard . There was no trace of his cat . The author thought that it had been killed in the fire and therefore broke down in tears after the fire .

3. The author was full of regret as he didn’t have anything left with him now . He didn’t have his studies content , his backpack and clothes either . He was in a state of shock .

4. The author never kept his cat far from him . The cat always used to sit beside him even when he would be doing his homework or any other task .

When the author found his cat back his happiness knew no bounds . He felt relieved when he was reunited with the cat .

5. He got his school supplies , notebooks , clothes etc. from his schoolmates , who had brought all that stuff for him . He was emotionally overcome by that gesture .
